Cycle Route on the Prom
At the forefront of our campaigning at the moment is the cycle route on the prom. We want to see the byelaws governing Worthing promenade changed such that cycling is permitted on the prom between Splash Point in the east, where the current cycling route to Shoreham begins (part of National Cycle Network route 2) and George V Avenue in the west.
Current status
The Department for Communities and Local Government are currently running a one month public consultation.
The expiry date is one week after the 4 week notice period (around 3 July). So, if you haven't already done so, please write as soon as possible to express your support for the change to the Department for Communities and Local Government at:
Communities and Local Government Byelaws Section 5/B2Eland House
Bressington Place
LONDON SW1E 5DU
We have not prepared a standard letter: it is far more effective if you simply express in your own words why this is an important facility for you and Worthing's cyclists in general.

Shared use space vs Segregated cycle lane
Although the council's most recent consultation showed more support for a segregated cycle lane, council officers (and cabinet) have supported the view that the evidence favours shared use space as a safer option.Related documents:
