Bike Safety Day - Worthing Leisure Centre - 29 November 2009 (9am-12 noon)

If you are looking for a second hand bike or would like to sell your trusted 2 wheels, Worthing Borough Council and NSL Services’ are holding a second hand bike sale on Sunday 29 November 2009 from 9am to 12pm at Worthing Leisure Centre. Whether you are looking for a kiddie’s tricycle or bike, a sophisticated tourer, or a road or mountain bike or just want to sell a bike your children have outgrown, they may have just what you are looking for. You may also find that perfect Christmas gift you have been struggling to find! Sussex Police will mark all bikes brought along to the event with your postcode for FREE as this has proved to greatly reduce the chance of your bike being stolen. They will also be on hand to give out lots of advice on bike security. West Sussex County Council staff will talk about safer cycling and cycle routes in Worthing, plus assist those people wishing to access cheaper travel for their children with a 3-in-1 travelcard. Deputy Leader and Cycling Champion, John Rogers, says: “Cycling is such a great way to get around town and is very environmentally friendly to our planet. We are trying to encourage everyone to think about getting on their bike and look forward to seeing lots of cyclist enthusiasts there.” Danny Forbes, NSL’s Contract Manager for Worthing, added: “We’re really happy to support this initiative as more cycling can only ease congestion in our town. With cycling on the Promenade soon to be available, this is a great opportunity to pick up a bargain and let two wheels replace four.” Local retailers will be there to sell accessories and a raffle will be held in aid of the Mayor of Worthing’s charity fund, including your chance to win a bike for the cost of a raffle ticket (or two). No need to book an appointment, please just come along on the morning.
