Prom cycling not yet official

Please note that cycling will not be allowed on the prom until the necessary changes have been made (signs, tactile paving etc.). We ask for your patience during this time! Having waited so long to get approval for prom cycling, let us wait just a little while longer.

The beginnings of a new cycle strategy

Worthing Map with Post-its

For our Bike Week celebration (which was a huge success, read about it here) we printed out a huge map of Worthing, took along a stack of post-its, and asked the good cycling public:

'How can we make Worthing a better place to cycle?'

Cycle route on the prom gets formal approval

Good News - The Secretary of State has formally approved the new byelaws which will allow cycling along the promenade!

Thank you to all those of you who wrote to the Department of Communities and Local Government to express your support for this.

Cycle on the Prom - final round of public consultation

The final round of public consultation on the change to the byelaws that would allow cycling on the Prom between Splash Point and George V Avenue is still open.

The expiry date is one week after the 4 week notice period (around 3 July). So, if you haven't already done so, please write as soon as possible to express your support for the change to the Department for Communities and Local Government at:

Worthing Cycle Strategy is 10 years old!

We are pleased to present the Worthing Cycle Strategy in digital format. This document is now very out-of-date, dating back to May 1999. It makes an interesting read though to see how few of the proposals have come to fruition in the intervening 10 years.

Minutes of first Worthing Cycle Forum

The minutes from the inaugural Worthing Cycle Forum, held Weds 18th March 2009, are now available. Please visit the Worthing Cycle Forum page to view the document.

Cycle on the prom survey - the results are in

The results of the consultation are to be considered in the report to the Cabinet on 2nd February 2009.

The outcome very strongly supports the proposal to introduce cycling on the promenade from Splash point to George V Avenue.
